About Silver Shield Alliance

Protecting and Empowering Seniors

Through education, community, and technology — because every senior deserves to feel safe, respected, and in control of their own life.

Our Story

The Digital World Changed Quickly. Everyone Deserves the Chance to Keep Up.

Technology now shapes how we communicate, manage money, access healthcare, learn and stay connected.
But when technology changes faster than the guidance around it, even familiar everyday decisions can become harder to judge.
Silver Shield Alliance was created to help close that gap.
We bring digital safety education, scam awareness and technology learning for older adults into everyday language and everyday situations — so older adults can keep learning and participating without being defined by age.

Our Mission

To help older adults navigate an evolving digital world with the knowledge, skills and support to make informed decisions and participate on their own terms.
We extend that mission through families, groups and trusted organizations already serving older adults in their communities.

Why Silver Shield Alliance Began

Ragini Mittal – Co-Founder & Chief Vision Officer

Over time, I kept noticing the same thing.
Technology was becoming part of more everyday decisions, but many older adults were being expected to adjust to those changes with very little practical guidance.
The concern was not simply about learning how to use a phone, an app or a new digital tool.
It was about knowing what to trust. What to question. When to pause. And how to continue using technology without losing confidence in your own decisions.
That stayed with me.
I believed older adults deserved learning that felt clear, respectful and useful. Not complicated instructions. Not fear-based warnings. And never communication that made someone feel less capable because of their age.
That belief became the starting point for Silver Shield Alliance.
Today, our focus is simple: to make digital safety and technology easier to understand, and to help older adults keep participating in a changing digital world with greater clarity and control.

"For me, Silver Shield Alliance is about making sure technology continues to create possibilities as we grow older, not uncertainty."

Our Approach

Build Habits That Still Work When the Situation Changes.

Knowing one scam is useful.
Knowing how to respond when something unfamiliar appears is more useful.
Our approach to digital safety and scam prevention for seniors is built around four repeatable actions that can be applied across messages, payments, apps, accounts and new technology.

The Silver Shield Learning Cycle

Digital confidence isn't about knowing everything. It's about using a simple approach you can rely on, every day.

Step 01

Learn

Understand what you are dealing with. Clear, practical learning in everyday language.

Step 02

Recognize

Notice what deserves a second look. Look for signs like pressure, urgency or unusual requests.

Step 03

Verify

Check before you decide. Confirm with a trusted source or person before deciding.

Step 04

Participate

Use what you know and move forward. Use technology, stay connected and manage daily tasks with greater ease.

Digital Confidence

Built through useful habits. Strengthened through practice.
